Hi everybody! Just to get this forum started I thought I would write a brief recap of the picnic and meeting for those who were unable to attend. A big thanks to those who brought the covered dishes and desserts, and a special thanks to Vic and Joanne Valdez, who cooked the burgers and hot dogs. Everything was delicious!
A number of topics were discussed during the meeting which was held after the meal. It was noted that July, 2024, marks the 50th anniversary of the Gateway Chapter. The overnight cruise to Pontiac, IL, which was planned for October, may be delayed until May of 2024 so it can be included in our 50th anniversary activities.
The annual Christmas party will be held on December 9th. Dwight and Vicki Sutterfield will be hosting this event again. Members are asked to bring a small gift - nothing fancy - so we can play Rob Your Neighbor.
The Packard club has invited us to join them for a cruise and tour of Bob Eversgard's civil war fort near Barselto, IL. The date has been set for October 15th - departure time and place will be announced later.
Members voted to purchase a "feather flag" similar to the flag displayed by Noel Renner at the Central Region and National meets.
Justin Porter presented several ideas to increase the visibility and recognition of the Gateway Chapter. He suggested publishing a calendar featuring photos of the members' cars. Justin also mentioned producing videos with members' cars and interviews about how they became interested in the old car hobby and Hudsons in particular.
The new group message created by Vic Valdez was discussed as a way for members to keep in touch. If you have not become a member yet contact Vic to be added to the list. We also discussed creating a club roster. This information would not be posted on the website but a hard copy would be mailed to the members. Roger asked about the possibility of including a forum within our website. Here it is, Roger! Hope you like it!
And finally, Alan Winston was appointed the new editor of the Gateway Gazette. If you have any ideas, articles, photos, etc., please submit to ag.winst@yahoo.com
Excellent summary of the post picnic meeting, I can tell you will be a great editor for the magazine.
